My dear Sir,
I have rec’d your note of the 13th inst., enclosing a check for $50—to be placed in to the credit of your son Cadet Webb, & will apply to the Sec’y of War for the necessary authority. It is more, however than sufficient to liquidate his indebtedness to the Commd & provide him an overcoat, but will no doubt be useful.
