I have the Satisfaction to inform you that Congress have appointed you a Commissioner to treat with the Indians, and that it is their Wish you should attend at New York as soon as possible to determine with the other Commissioners on the Times & Places for holding the Treaties.1 The Commission authorizing you to act on this Business will be transmitted to New York under Cover to Mr Oliver Woolcot.
